Postdoctoral Scholar

The Computational Aerospace Laboratory at the University of Southern California (USC), in Los Angeles, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a collaborative project centered around the understanding and modeling of the dynamics of turbulent flow structures. The successful candidate will focus on the development of physics-informed AI/ML-driven models for high-fidelity numerical simulation of turbulent flows, incorporating scalable, parallel algorithms for the geometric characterization, temporal tracking, and analysis of the history of interactions of flow structures.

    Required qualifications:

    • PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or closely related disciplines.
    • Experience in High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Big Data Analysis, ideally on GPU-accelerated clusters.
    • Programming experience in parallel computing and AI/ML frameworks.
    • Familiarity with subgrid-scale (SGS) models for large-eddy simulation (LES) of turbulent flows.

The start date might be as early as September 15, 2026.

Interested candidates should submit their application via email directly to Ivan Bermejo-Moreno (bermejom@usc.edu) including:

  • Subject: Postdoctoral Research Associate 2026 - Turbulent flow modeling.
  • A cover letter.
  • A CV that highlights relevant experience and publication record.
  • A list of three professional references with contact information.
